Valve clearance is a key design parameter for four-stroke single-cylinder gasoline engines fitted to mini tillers, and is critical to the stable operation of the whole machine. It refers to the small gap reserved between the valve stem and the rocker arm when the valve is fully closed in a cold petrol engine. Its main function is to compensate for thermal expansion during engine operation and ensure reliable valve sealing. This parameter directly affects the power output, fuel efficiency and long-term reliability of the mini tiller.
In terms of working principle, proper valve clearance directly determines the intake and exhaust efficiency of the tiller-specific gasoline engine. Excessive clearance shortens valve opening duration and reduces lift, resulting in insufficient air intake and incomplete exhaust. This leads to weaker power response, higher fuel consumption, and accelerated wear of related components. Insufficient clearance may prevent the valve from closing completely when the petrol engine heats up due to thermal expansion, causing low cylinder pressure and affecting starting smoothness and continuous working stability.
As a dedicated power source for mini tillers, Wanggeng four-stroke single-cylinder petrol engines adopt strict and unified technical standards in valve clearance design and production. According to actual working conditions of mini tillers, the intake valve clearance of our gasoline engine is precisely set at 0.10–0.15 mm and the exhaust valve clearance at 0.15–0.20 mm. During assembly, the locking torque is strictly controlled at 10–12 N·m to ensure stable and reliable performance of every Wanggeng mini tiller engine leaving the factory.
Wanggeng implements high-standard quality control throughout the production process, with strict checks from structural design to assembly and inspection, keeping valve clearance of the tiller gasoline engine within the optimal working range. This fundamentally ensures stable performance, strong power output and enhanced durability of our petrol engine. For routine maintenance after long-term use, regular inspection and calibration of the mini tiller engine in accordance with manufacturer specifications will keep the power tiller operating efficiently at all times.
